Above and Beyond - Chris Miller

Hello friends and welcome to the Story Forge Podcast. I'm Lyle Smith, your host. I am a writer and author of Why Yellow Matters, a runner - mostly retired - a golfer - a dad - a husband to a gifted acupuncturist. And I believe here that making things matters. This is where we talk to people who do things that we think matters to the world. 

And today, we're talking about helping people. Specifically in their careers.

And what we've landed on is that sometimes, maybe more than sometimes, old school makes all the difference. 

I've known Chris Miller for - sheesh - more than the last two decades. I got to know him when he was placing me for some creative jobs. I think we met at some networking event and we've been friendly, then friends ever since.

He's recently - that is over the past couple of years - gone out on his own, like I was convinced to do by my heroic and brave and entreprenurial wife - to create a creative staffing agency called Topfolio. 

His approach has always been particularly human, which is why I liked him right off the bat. He wasn't just about numbers, because he understood the quality work we were all after in that field was never JUST about numbers. It was about the people and how they felt and what they believed about things.

And I think that matters. I think that will always matter.
